My Story

Elvis Luizinho Dcosta, was born on 7th October 1997.

Elvis is an artist, not a photographer. With nearly a decade of experience having spread his work via social media, he has received praise for his picture taking style without photoshop at play. At just age 19, he has been featured in the Nike sportswear x VSCO campaign and from there on into multiple renowned brands such as Sony, PUMA, Cadillac, and many more, both credited and uncredited.

Often considered very controversial in taking his visuals, for breaking the rules of photography, Elvis has cemented himself as one of the best artists here in the Arab region, period.

It was his mother, Nora Luizinho Fernandes, that motivated his passion and guided him in his artistic journey as a full-time career in the art field, until her passing.

FAQs

What’s your qualification?

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BBA) degree, specialized in Marketing (Hons) from the Open University, UK.

When did you begin?

It all started back in 2016 when I decided to quit painting and give photography a chance. Being featured in a small VSCO x Nike Sportswear campaign as “The Real Perfectionist” gave me the small boost to carry on diversifying my portfolio and skills.

Who is Nora?

Nora Luizinho Fernandes is the name of my mother. The reason I continue to do what I do without having the notion to quit. Even after her passing back in 2019.

How many clients have you worked with?

From brands such as Hermes, Nike, PUMA, Four Seasons, Footlocker ME, Power Horse, and much more. Both as a freelancer and under local agencies affiliated with the brand in Kuwait.

Why don’t you shoot portraits?

It’s subjective from artist to artist. To me, everyone does that, it doesn’t stand out. My focus is entirely on objects that have their own personality, such as buildings, wherein a human subject accounts for a fill in the scene only.

Do you use photoshop?

I rarely use photoshop unless it’s related to F&B clientele. Majority of my photos don’t use photoshop at all, except for 1% of the overall deliverables with proof.

What do you use for editing?

Black Magic Design DaVinci Resolve for videos and Capture One for photos.

What inspires you to create such artworks?

Symmetry and breaking the foundations of minimalism with color theory. Mixing them both gives me a subtle grit and texture often as a signature for my photos.

Do you only do photos and videos?

No, my role as a solo creative also involves being a Creative Director. I tend to oversee the art direction, concepts, audio visualization, illustrations and finalization of the project being handled.

Why did you change your username?

I needed to honor the middle name. It’s a personal touch to the love my mother had for her own father, Luizinho.

Which genre of work are you focused on?

Certain categories such as real estate, food & beverage, fashion, cinematography, editorial, entertainment, handicraft, automotive and so much more. There are no limits.

Do you work alone?

The answer is yes and no at the same time. I tend to hire a skeleton crew when it comes to large production work in creating adverts or a young skilled creative that need an introductory first step into the field.
